The Project

▼Self-Introduction

After graduating from graduate school, I worked at a major shipyard in Nagasaki for four years, and have also worked in the shipbuilding and marine fields in South Korea and the United States.Utilizing the experience at that time, I am currently promoting the “OCEAN LAND” project.

At first, I submitted it to a magazine in the form of the “Ocean Republic” but some professors, friends, and said it was “difficult to understand.” So, I broke down, reorganized, and restarted in the form of calligraphy.

Originally, the content was on a scale that would be handled by a large company or research institute, but the project was carried out alone. So, it is still very difficult.

I asked my university friends to check the actual propulsive force (lift) of “OCEAN LAND”, and I increased my confidence that it would be feasible.

Sailing ships use the power of the wind to navigate the ocean on the same principle as OCEAN LAND.OCEAN LAND is just a magnified scale of that.In order to specifically show the feasibility, various ideas are kneaded in the form of CG images and drawings while referring to materials at the library in the “OCEAN LAND / Research and Development Proposal”. I find the project interesting and rewarding.

▼How the project started

In 1992, I submitted the “Ocean Republic” to the magazine “Ship Science” as a solution to the global population explosion and food shortages..

The idea is to float a mega-float on the sea, build multiple skyscrapers on top surface of it, and use the lift (propulsive force) generated by the wind on the sea to create a floating like a gourd island..

However, the reaction from university professors was not very good, saying that it was “impossible” rather than “interesting”..The final answer is, “What are you going to do with the trouble of creating an inconvenient remote island?” Frustration and cessation of thought came to me..

However, after the year 2000, a number of projects were announced around the world to build settlements on the sea,I took another look at the Ocean Republic initiative.

In 2010, i acquired the domain name of oceanrepublic.org, set up a website. After 2013, I sent “OCEAN LAND research and development proposal” to over 100 famous companies, universities or else. For example, US space companies and Dubai port related compaies, major Japanese general contractor, heavy industires, universities of Japan and US.

In 2019, I happened to meet Professor Hiroshi Asanuma of Chiba University at a disaster prevention company in Niigata. .

Prof. Asanuma was a chairman of SSMARTACE, created by himself. Prof.. Asanuma was interested in my project from the perspective of disaster prevention and mitigation.

After that, as a project for disaster prevention and mitigation, we held study sessions, seminars, remote meetings, etc. with people from the SSMARTACE many times, and the “OCEAN LAND” grew as a project effective against disasters with “disaster mitigation” performance. For more details, please see the next item “The project” below .

In 1992, more than 30 years have passed since I submitted “Ocean Republic Concept” to “Science of Ships”. The project will go further beyond.

I think people all over the world have a vague sense of anxiety about the future. However, I think that humankind still has a lot of hope for the future if we share wisdom. I believe that the Ocean Republic and OCEAN LAND have the power to drive such hopes for the future.

▼ The project

The project aims to raise funds to exhibit the “OCEAN LAND”, which aims for a disasters-free environment, at the “Bosai Industry Exhibition 2023” to be held at Tokyo Big Sight from February 1 to 3, 2023. .

In other words, funds will be used for the exhibition fee for the Bosai Industry Exhibition 2023, the printing fee for posters and pamphlets to prepare for the exhibition, the courier fee, and the equipment rental fee for the exhibition.

The year 2024 truly began with the Noto Peninsula earthquake on New Year’s Day.

And in 2022, it is still fresh in our memory that about one-third of the Pakistan was hit by flooding due to ten times the rainfall of an average year, and it was a major disaster rarely seen in recent years.

In recent years, the scale of damage caused by climate disasters caused by global warming is increasing year by year..floods, droughts, heavy snowfalls and so on.

In addition to disasters caused by climate change, Japan is expected to experience the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake of 1995, the Great East Japan Earthquake of 2011, and the Great Nankai Trough Earthquake, or major earthquake directly below the Tokyo metropolitan area which is said to be even larger. The damage forecast is also a big one that has never been experienced before.

“Is it possible to reduce accidents to zero?” In order to tackle this problem, Ocean Republic Lab has repeatedly thought and discussed with the SSMARTACE(Chairman Prof. Hiroshi Asanuma, Chiba University).

I have long had the idea of setting up a mega-float (a large floating body) on the ocean and using the lifting force obtained from the skyscrapers to be built on top of it to move the mega-float, avoiding typhoons and other weather disasters, and moving the mega-float around the ocean..

One day, Prof. Asanuma pointed out that “OCEAN LAND is a project that is useful in preventing disasters, in other words, a project that can realize Disasters Free,” and I focused on that. I have recommended research.

As a result, we were able to brought up it as a project with “disaster prevention” performance that can prevent almost all disasters that occur on the earth..Earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, sea level rise, typhoons, droughts, heavy snowfalls, pandemics, and asteroids collision, We have shown how to prevent or minimize damage.

In the late 21st century., I dream of many “OCEAN LANDs” that are used as disaster-free residences, farmlands, resorts, marine development bases, and launch and arrival bases for space rockets and space elevators.

By the way, at the Disaster Prevention Industry Exhibition 2023 to be held at Tokyo Big Sight from February 1 to 3, 2023, I will exhibit the “OCEAN LAND” at the booth of the SSMARTACE, which is only one frame wide.

▼Prospects and vision of the project

First of all, I think it is important to let many people in the world know that it is possible to create a disaster-free environment.

And I hope that further development of the project will be possible, as I think that people around the world will give us even better wisdom, and that the “OCEAN LAND” will be even better.
